MOUNT VERNON — Jerry E. Lashley, 65, of Mount Vernon died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Nov. 1, 1944, in Buffalo, Ohio, a son of the John E. Lashley and Grace P. (Roe) Lashley Bebout. Jerry was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Mount Liberty. He was a retired self-employed truck driver. Jerry loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and shooting pool with his brother-in-law, Jack. Jerry and his son, Eric, shared the great passion of truck driving. Jerry taught his daughter, Elaine, the passion of love and he taught his daughters, Crystal and Jennifer to be strong.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jan Marie (Body) Lashley, whom he married on May 28, 1993; a son, Eric (Erica) Lashley of Gambier; daughters, Elaine (Herman) Trammell of Mount Vernon, Crystal (Jerimiah) Carpenter of Fredericktown and Jennifer (Curtis) Potter of Mount Vernon; his grandchildren, Private Kyle, Danielle, Lane and Shaymus Lashley, Perry Kinsey and Kyrin Bradley, Asia, Aleaha, Zachary and Makayla Potter, and Aryana and Kyra Carpenter; and a four-legged companion, Kaycee Sue.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by two special four-legged companions, Boo and Honey.
The family will receive friends at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Carl Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown.
