MOUNT VERNON — Wilma “Sue” Sigman, 60, of Mount Vernon died Jan. 12, 2010, at Country Court Nursing Home following a difficult surgery.
She was born July 16, 1949, in Mount Vernon to George and Violena Owens. Sue was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many. She enjoyed to sew, make crafts and loved to sing karaoke with her husband. Sue taught her daughter and granddaughters to stand up for what they believed in and to be strong and go for their dreams. She will always be remembered for her huge heart and smile.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Virgil Sigman of Mount Vernon; an only daughter, Teresa (Christopher) Gamble of Mount Vernon; four granddaughters, Clorisha, Hannah, Christina and Dallas; her parents, George and Violena Owens of Homer; brothers, Jerry (Patty) Owens of Utica and Timothy (Glenda) Owens of Mount Vernon. She also had many nieces and nephews and two special women in her life that she called “daughters,” Jacki Lewis of Mount Vernon and Mindi Myers of Tennessee.
Sue was preceded in death by a 3 1/2-month-old granddaughter, Emmie Raychelle Sigman.
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dorsel Messick officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
