MYRTLE BEACH S.C. — Anthony C. “Tony” Gernert, 40, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Sunbury, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.
He was born June 8, 1969, in Aberdeen, Md., to Joseph and Margaret (Tamulonis) Gernert of Sunbury. Tony served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Worthington Steel before moving to South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings, Joseph M. (Monica), Carol Ann (Ryan) Wright, Thomas J. (Jolene), SSGT Mark A. (Amanda) Gernert; and nine nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, Jan. 17, from 3 to 6 p.m., prayer services 5:30 p.m., at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church, Sunbury, with the Rev. David Sizemore as celebrant. Military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association. Inurnment will be at Sunbury Memorial Park.
