COSHOCTON — Betty J. South, 82, of Coshocton passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.

She was born in Norton, Kansas, on Sept. 23, 1927, to the late Milton and Lillie (Scott) Norton. On July 20, 1957, she married Richard South who precedes her in death. In 1992, she retired from Shaw-Barton after 42 years of service. Betty attended Grace United Methodist Church, Conesville United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed sewing, traveling, gardening, singing, and listening to music.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Bobby) Major of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Sidra and Alexander Major; one sister, Shirley A. Brownfield Roberts; and two nephews, Louis and Matthew Szabo.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Rhea L. Brownfield.

A graveside service will take place Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at South Lawn Cemetery with Deacon Andy Duda officiating.
