FREDERICKTOWN — William “Bill” Jones, 77, of Fredericktown died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 17, 1932, in Galion to the late Charles and Annabelle (Flowers) Jones. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and retired after 34 years of employment with General Motors in Ontario. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 549 and attended the Fredericktown United Methodist Church. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, but most important was the quality time he spent with his family and the grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Phyllis (Knapp) Jones; a son, Bradley Jones of Fredericktown; a daughter, Michele (Travis) Robison of Fredericktown; three grandchildren, Cody Grubaugh, Taylor Robison and Kara Robison; a sister, Charlotte “Sissy” (Bob) Decker of Oak Harbor; and a stepsister, Charlene (John) Heffelfinger of Galion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, where a funeral service with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. The family will observe a private burial.
