FREDERICKTOWN — Ralph Nathaniel Cochran, 72, of Fredericktown died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Ralph was born Jan. 28, 1937, in La Fayette, Ga., to Robert Earl Cochran and Nettie Ann (Maples) Cochran. He was a self-employed machinist and mechanic, and moved to this area in 1986 from Columbus. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957. Ralph was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are his wife, Doris (Boling) Cochran, whom he married April 8, 1956; his sons, Eugene (Edith) Cochran of Cartersville, Ga., and Stevean Cochran of Fredericktown; daughters, Jenny (Michael) Ware of Fredericktown, Ruby Jewel (Mark) Greene of Adairsville, Ga., and Nettie Cochran of Fredericktown; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Jenny of New Albany.
Besides his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel Cochran, Robert Cochran and Thomas Cochran.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Duane Kramer officiating. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery at Chesterville.
