FREDERICKTOWN — William “Bill” Dalton Cherryholmes, 77, passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2010, at the home of his son, Joseph.
Bill was born June 5, 1932, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Dalton and Lena (Carr) Cherryholmes. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanne; children, Rosemary Salsman of Louisville, Ky., Diana (Dennis) Blackford-McKinster of Carroll, and Mike (Trina) Cherryholmes and Joe (Marsha) Cherryholmes, both of Fredericktown; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Pat) of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; and one sister, Sara Shepard of Mount Vernon.
Bill and his wife lived in Florida for most of the last 30 years. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, cooking, attending gospel music concerts, World War II history and writing. He wrote monthly articles for three major coonhunting magazines during the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. He was a member of Northside Christian Church in Fruitland Park, Fla., and Palmyra Church of Christ.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown, where the family will have private graveside services. There will be a memorial service at Palmyra Church of Christ for friends and family on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m.
