GALENA — Helen M. Barber, 85, of Galena passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at her residence.

She was born June 5, 1924, in Columbus to the late Elmer and Mary (Albright) McCombs. She retired from Big Walnut Schools as an arts and library aide.

She is survived by her sons, William D., Jeffrey, Joseph and Jon; daughters, Jill Shaffer, Jacque Kuhn and Jody Forman; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Barber; grandson, William Charles Barber; brother, Robert McCombs; and sisters, Mary Wolfe, Mildred Sage and Betty Jean Nicely.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, and one hour prior to the 1 p.m. service on Wednesday with the Rev. Father David Sizemore officiating. Private interment for the family will take place at a later date.
