WALTHAM, Mass.— Beloved sister, Barbara Elizabeth “Beth” (Wise) Guarnieri, 56, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness at her apartment in Waltham, Mass., on Jan. 13, 2010.
Beth was born in Akron, Ohio, on Dec. 1, 1953, the youngest of the three children of Joseph Sterling Wise and Miriam LaFever Wise. She was raised and attended school in Mount Vernon, Ohio. But Beth spent most of her adult life in the Boston/Waltham, Mass., area where she met and married Andrew Guarnieri. She worked many interesting jobs over the years there, including clerical and sales jobs. She enjoyed the vibrancy and variety of the city.
Despite many years of struggle with chronic illness, Beth was full of life, love and generosity for her family and friends. She had a singular sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Being often challenged physically and financially herself, she expressed great empathy for the needs of others. Beth was a creative soul. She loved music and art and good food. She approached life always with intensity. Her family and friends give thanks for the opportunity to have shared her life.
Beth truly “...Fought the good fight, finished the course, kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7). She will be greatly missed.
Beth leaves behind many who loved her; her brother, Mark and wife, Karen; sister, Melinda and husband, John; nephews, Jeremy and Matthew; nieces, Maya, Erin, Jennifer and husband Jim; a grand niece, Lauren; aunts, Ardie, Judy and Pat; many cousins and friends.
Beth was preceded in death by her mother and father; and ex-husband, Andrew.
A special service of remembrance was held with family and friends attending at the First Presbyterian Church of Waltham, Mass., on Jan. 20, 2010.
