MOUNT VERNON — Lois J. Rea, 81, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

Lois was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Donora, Pa., to Louis and Edith (Reasbeck) Gedeon and had been a resident of Mount Vernon since 1963. She worked for the Mount Vernon Developmental Center and Ben Franklin’s in Mount Vernon. Lois was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Sam Miller of Mount Vernon; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. William S. and Deirdre Rea of Roanoke, Va.; a son-in-law, Jerry Hankins of Sparta; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Rea of Cuyahoga Falls; 10 grandchildren, Ciaran Rea, Aidan Rea, Liam Rea and Siobhan Rea, Kyle Rea, Abby Rea and Ryan Rea, Kaitlin and Tyler Hankins and Erica Miller; a brother, Ray (Jackie) Gedeon of Henderson, Nev.; five sisters, Elaine Panizzi of Monongahela, Pa., Collette DiPiazza of Charleroi, Pa., Trudy Hughes of Parma Heights, Ohio, LaVerne Kuma of Donora, Pa., and Carolyn Naccarato of Charleroi, Pa.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Rea; a daughter, Laurie Hankins; a son, David Rea; and four brothers, Don Gedeon, Lou Gedeon, Paul Gedeon and Glen Gedeon.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, East High Street, Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
