MOUNT VERNON — Helen V. Bond, 94, of Mount Vernon died Jan. 29, 2010, at Country Club Retirement Campus, Mount Vernon.

She was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Lost Creek, W.Va., to Stephen and Jessie (Stout) Kennedy. She was a first-grade teacher at Galena Elementary for 13 years and a principal for 12 years.

Surviving are husband, Ernest F.; son, Richard (Susan) of Florida; daughters, Karen (Dick) Rogers of West Virginia, Doris (Harry) Kennedy of Mount Vernon, Rebecca (Darwin) Van Horn of Centerburg; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wilda Kennedy, Elaine Kennedy.

Preceded in death by brothers, Gene and Frank Kennedy; sisters, Elizabeth Kennedy, Evaleen Bond, Ruth Smith, Kathryn James.

Friends may call Sunday, 4-7 p.m., at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Funeral service and calling hours will be Wednesday at the Lost Creek Seventh-day Baptist Church in Lost Creek, W.Va., and burial will follow there in the Brick Church Ceme
