MOUNT VERNON — Retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Neil Van Houten, 57, of Mount Vernon died Feb. 6, 2010, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born May 22, 1952, in Mount Vernon to Harold and Myrtle (Johnson) Van Houten. Neil was an Air Force veteran and attended church regularly.
He is survived by his children, Andrew (Becke) Van Houten of England, Nicholas (Brit) Van Houten of Howard and Jennifer Van Houten of Mount Vernon; a sister, Gale Robinson of Howard; four grandchildren, Andrew, John, Anysten, Braxton; and his dog, Tori a Primbroke Welsh Corgi.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Van Houten; and a sister, Barbara Lee.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside honors will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council in Mound View Cemetery.
