FREDERICKTOWN — Olive (Slack) Hatfield, 95, of Fredericktown died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the Heartland Nursing Center in Centerburg.
Olive was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Morrow County to Dwight Estle Slack and Blanch (McCormick) Slack and had lived in the same house where she was born and had lived her lifetime, outside of the time she was married and lived with her husband on Green Valley Road. She was a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her stepdaughters, Joyce Calver of Mansfield, Georgia Helmick of Fredericktown, Sue Zernes of Mansfield, Marguerite Stringfellow of Wellington, Betty Heil of Roy, Mon., Jean Johnson and Joan McCall, both of Mansfield; her stepson, Fred Hatfield of Fredericktown; and stepdaughter-in-law, Ann Hatfield of Florida; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; many cousins including James McCormick of Fredericktown; and special friend and caregiver, Pam Passick.
Besides her parents, Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hatfield; brothers, Paul Slack and W. Chester Slack; sister, Ruth Slack; stepsons, Luther Hatfield, Lucius Hatfield and W.H. “Bill” Hatfield; and stepdaughter, Louise Leedy.
Friends may call Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery in Morrow County.
