MOUNT VERNON — Howard Wendell Potter, 74, of Mount Vernon died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Howard was born June 16, 1935, in Walton, N.Y., to Roland and Ethel (Howard) Potter and had been a resident of Mount Vernon since 1976.

He is survived by his son, Russell Potter of California; six grandchildren; his sister, Mary Jean Kennard of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his son, Dale Martin Potter; his sisters, Lucille Rossier and Linda Potter; and a brother, Steven Russell Potter.

Graveside funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
