MOUNT VERNON — Ida I. Higgins, 90, of Mount Vernon died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Ida was born April 23, 1919, at Marengo to Pearl S. Rathburn and Lottie (Allen) Rathburn. She was a member of the Milford Church of Christ.

Surviving are her sons, Dean (Vicki) Higgins of Centerburg and Lonnie (Judy) Higgins of Mount Vernon; her daughters, Marie (Donald) Dalrymple of Mount Vernon and Jane Kennedy of St. Louisville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Pearl Rathburn Jr. of Baltimore, Ohio; and her sisters, Louise Duffey of Mount Vernon and Thelma (Earl) Layman of Utica.

Besides her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Chester C. Higgins; and sisters, Rosetta Smith and Winifred Dougherty.

There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private service at a later date.
