FRESNO — Ellen Elnora Randles, 91, of County Road 227 died Saturday, Feb.
13, 2010, at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility with
her daughter by her side.
She was born June 29, 1918, in Mount Vernon to Jarvis and Jennie Grace (Stanford)
Shellenbarger. She attended her first eight grades at the Soggy Hill School in
Bethlehem Township, and was a 1935 graduate of Coshocton High School. She married
Walter Randles on June 12, 1940, who preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1966.
She worked at the Calvary Baptist day care, was the Watson family nanny for their
two boys, worked in the kitchen at Head Start, and she was a member of Calvary
Baptist Church. She had a positive outlook on life, and loved doing for others.
She was a devoted mom, having raised her daughter, as a widow, from the age of
9, giving her a very happy home. She was very proud of her son-in-law when he
married her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Maurita (Curtis) Garber of Fresno, where they
were happy to have her live with them and care for her since 2003. She is also
survived by many nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant
son who was born and died in Nov. 1955, five sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church of
Coshocton with Pastor Cal Searles officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie
Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time. The Fischer Funeral
