MOUNT VERNON — Julia M. Nutter, 87, of East Burgess Street, Mount Vernon,
passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon surrounded
by her loving family.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late George and Julia
(Lacey) Connell. Julia worked at Bland’s Restaurant for over 28 years and
attended the Covenant Christian Church of God in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed the
outdoors, gardening, reading and her canine companion Rascal.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Bob) Underwood of Mount Vernon; stepdaughters,
Vivian (Max) Melohn of Temple City, Calif., Donna (Raymond) Edington of Shreve,
Ohio; three stepgranddaughters; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-great-grandchildren;
and a stepgreat-great-great-grandson.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Shrimplin;
her second husband, Glenn Nutter; and her stepgrandson, Richie Allen.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Wilson Cemetery in
Newark. Pastor Tim Overly will officiate. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home is
honored to serve the family of Julia M. Nutter.
