NEW LEXINGTON — William L. Wollenberg, 82, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan. 25, 1928, son of the late Daniel B. and Imelda Bringardner Wollenberg. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, a retired employee of Star Engineering after 39 1/2 years, a lifetime member of New Lexington Elks 509 and Eagles 2070, a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 188.
He is survived by his children, Phillip (Bobbi) Wollenberg and Phyllis (Henry) Howdyshell of New Lexington, Paula Weinfurtner (Tim O’Hare) of Athens, Pamela (Michael) Fuller of Mount Vernon, Patrick Wollenberg (Missy Bateson) and Penny (Dave) Murray of New Lexington, Patricia (S. Andrew) Morrison of Centerville, Peggy (Scott) Harris and Paul Wollenberg of New Lexington; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Wollenberg and Jerry Wollenberg of Columbus, Robert Wollenberg of Newark and Richard Wollenberg of Canton; and sisters, Leona Spanner of Delaware, Janet (Jack) Livingston of Columbus and Mary Jane (William) Fallon of Hilliard.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Elaine Jones Wollenberg, on Jan. 16, 2009; his parents, Daniel and Imelda Wollenberg; a granddaughter, Ashton Cannon; sisters, Margaret Wurdock and Ruth Weis; and brothers, Donald (Gene) Wollenberg and Kenneth Wollenberg.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 18 S. Jackson St., New Lexington, with Elks’ services at 7 p.m. and the Rosary at 7:30. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, corner of Main and Water streets, New Lexington, with the Rev. Father James Csaszar as celebrant. Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery with full military graveside rites.
