CENTERBURG — M. Glorean (Nutt) Higgins, 95, went home with Jesus the evening of Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, surrounded by her family at home.
She was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Delaware County. A daughter of Edward Leroy and Mamie Peral (Griffiths) Nutt. She married Lloyd J. Higgins 1933. They bought Higgins Bloomfield Store in 1944. She wrote the “Do You Remember” and Bloomfield news along with poems for many years. And they has the Higgins Tack and Harness Shop until moving to Centerburg in June 1981. Glorean will be remembered for loving the Lord and helping everyone she met. We cannot count all the quilts and lap robes she made and gave away. She loved to cook, crochet, garden and flowers and watch the babies grow. She was a member of the Centerburg Church of Christ, Loyal Men and Women Sunday School Class, T. Bumpas Small Group and DGS Delaware Pioneers. A graduate of Berlin High School and Famous Writers School.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd J. Higgins in 1981; son-in-law, Clyde E. Boyd in 1979; two sisters, Lola (Walter) Hollenback and Frances (Clarence) Chesser; and brother, Kenneth (Wilma) Nutt.
Left to cherish her memory, daughter, Annamae and Jim Lockhart of Centerburg; three granddaughters, Sarena Johnstone of Mount Gilead, Roger and Christina Tolle and Edward and Angela Dendinger of Cardington; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Johnstone, her sons, Taylor and AJ of Cardington, Stephanie Jordan (Aaron), their children Breanna, Kylee, Adrianna and Jordan of Norwalk, Jermey (Lauren) Jordan and son, Thomas, Marion; three stepgrandchildren, Steven Lockhart of Delaware, his daughter, Sarah (Andy) Brogan, their children, Mackinzie and Wyatt of Yorktown, Va., Tim Lockhart of Waldo and Brenda Lockhart (Tom Johnson), her daughter, (Jared) Stephanie, Jadan and Kylee Christian, both Delaware; nieces and nephews, Josephine Hines, Richard Hollenback, Doris Davidson, Jean Hoffman and Nicki (Chris) Acker; sister-in-law, Imogene Higgins of Mount Vernon and her children, Joan Randolph and Jack Higgins; and many great-nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at the Centerburg Church of Christ, 3830 S. Columbus Road, Centerburg with Darren Daus, minister. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial contributions be made to Hospice, the American Heart Association or the Centerburg Church of Christ.
