SHREVE — Marilyn Jean Wells, 74, of Shreve went home to be with the Lord, Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Shreve Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Christopher P. Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call today, Feb. 19, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is assisting the family with arrangements. Marilyn was born May 2, 1935, near Big Prairie to Gaylen and Lela (Way) Neiswander and married Roger Wade Wells on May 13, 1956. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2006. She was a graduate of Big Prairie, was a homemaker and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson and also serving her community. Marilyn was involved with Girl Scouts for 33 years, was a Triway Music Booster, Shreve School PTO, Shreve Fire Auxiliary, 4-H advisor, manager of concession stand at Shreve ball field, was a member of the Shreve Presbyterian Church, was a member of session, was an elder, had taught Sunday school at Shreve and Hopewell, helped with the after-school program at the church and was instrumental in establishing the church college scholarship fund. Marilyn and Roger were charter members of the Shreve Community Christmas Dinner and were Daily Record Citizens of the Year in 1993.
Surviving are three children, Deb (Guy) Lilley of Shreve, Donna Hochstetler of Mount Vernon and Denny (Jody) Wells of Shreve; grandchildren, Shannon, John and Miranda Lilley, Mallory and Wade Wells and Robyn Hochstetler; a great-grandson, Owen Lilley; and a sister, Sandra (Bob) Carnahan of Lakeland, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and son, Doug Wells.
