FREDERICKTOWN — Thelma I. Burson, 86, of Fredericktown passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 18, 2010, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
She was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late Guy and Helen (Beach) Elder. Thelma was a 1942 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and was a member of the Green Valley Southern Baptist Church near Mount Vernon. She was a member of Fredericktown Senior Citizens and enjoyed auctions and the breakfast at the American Legion Hall. Thelma also loved to read.
Thelma is survived by her daughters, Linda (A. Roy) Miller of Mount Gilead, Dixie (James) Miller of Fredericktown and Sherry (Jeffrey) Archer of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn C. Burson; daughters, Carron Burson and Angela Marie Campbell-Savage; a grandson, Michael Allen Miller; and brothers, Raymond, Thomas, Ralph and Dick Elder.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, where funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
