DUBLIN — Winifred E. Walz, 86, of 6000 Riverside Drive, Dublin, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Feb. 17, 2010.

She was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Burt and Winifred (Dooley) Martin. She graduated from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. During her 36 years in Mount Vernon she was a member of the Knox County Medical Society Auxiliary, AAUN, and College Woman’s Club. She served on the board of the Mount Vernon Public Library and was employed as a consultant dietitian at Country Court for 10 years.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Donald V. Walz, M.D.; Martha and Stephen Hewitt of Columbus, Susan and Phillip Kafoure of Westerville, Steven Walz and Mary Anne Creamer of Charlotte, N.C., and Elizabeth Walz Chin and Chong Chin of Upper Arlington. She has seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Walz has donated her body to The Ohio State University College of Medicine. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Hilliard on March 13 at 1 p.m.
