MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy E. Grant, 94, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Knox County to the late Archabel Earl and Margaret Elizabeth (Robinson) Earnest. Dorothy was a member of the Amity United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Lloyd Dwaine “Homer” (Elaine) Grant of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Carolyn Ann (Steve) Meeks of Butler; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Grant; two brothers, Russell Earnest and Raymond “Pete” Earnest; and a sister, Rowena Doup.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Brother Philip McMurrin and Pastor Mike Stine will be officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Cemetery in Danville.
