MOUNT VERNON — Blaine K. Kohl, 86, of Prairie Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
He was born July 14, 1923, in Dundas, Minn., to the late William and Edna (Roberts) Kohl. Blaine was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Morgan Grange for nearly 60 years, the Knox County Farm Bureau, was a Morgan Township trustee for many years, was on the board of directors for the Federal Land Bank Association, was a former member of the National Farmers Organization (N.F.O) and was also a member of the Owl Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Marlisa (Jim) Bannister of New Albany; a son, Gary (Bonnie) Kohl of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Erin Lantz, Trevor Lantz, David Kohl and Bradley Kohl; three stepgrandchildren, Scott Bannister, Rick Bannister and David Bannister; four great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; a brother, Larold (Phyllis) Kohl of Mount Vernon; and a sister, Lois (Paul) Dailey of Mount Vernon.
Blaine was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Kohl; and two sisters, Alice Hagans and Inez Davis.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held Thursday at the Owl Creek Baptist Church beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Owl Creek Cemetery.
