MOUNT VERNON — Elizabeth M. Schodorf, 89, of East Burgess Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

She was born June 28, 1920, in Mount Vernon to the late Harvey and Agnes (Lower) Hardesty. Elizabeth retired from Martin Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed simple hobbies such as sewing and bowling. Elizabeth was an avid fan of all sports and enjoyed following Mount Vernon High School, Ohio State University and her favorite, Cincinnati Reds.

She is survived by a son, James Schodorf of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Jean (Paul) Frye of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Beth Fisher and Matthew Frye; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Kennedy and Cassandra Fisher; a goddaughter, Cathy Lang; and a special friend, Lisa Smith.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John William Schodorf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
