GALION — Mark E. Deakins, 55, of Galion, and formerly of Amity, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Galion Community Hospital from an apparent heart attack.

He was born June 9, 1954, in Mount Vernon to Larry and Sue (Styers) Deakins. Mark served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed with Cardington Yutaka Technologies. Mark was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish, but most important to him was the time he spent with family and friends.

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife, Tamela (Muehling) Deakins; four daughters, Haidee Deakins, Hannah Deakins, Sarah Deakins and Allissa Deakins; three stepchildren, Sarah Muehling, Michael Livengood and Christopher Livengood; two stepgrandchildren, Selena and Dinah Muehling; a brother, Tracy (Trudy) Deakins of Amity; and two sisters, Kimberly (Ronald) Johnson of Danville and Tiffany (Darrell) Cagnon of Mount Vernon.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Steve Andrews will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Amity Cemetery.
