MOUNT VERNON — Calling hours for Alvin C. Durban, 86, of Mount Vernon will be Saturday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to noon at Law-Baker Funeral Home, where the service will be at noon with Pastor Larry Hiles officiating. Private internment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, at a later date.

Alvin died March 3, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon. He was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Hilliard to the late William and Irene (Weber) Durban. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a machinist with Peuget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Wash.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Susan Durban Jr. of Port Orchard, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Harley Jacks of Harrington, Del., Sandra and John Bickel of Utica; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Irvin and Jackie Durban of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and friend and companion, Ann Wells of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth M. (Collins) Durban, who passed away July 26, 2002; grandson, Billy Jacks; brother, Carl Durban; and sister, Erma Jahn.
