MOUNT VERNON — Thomas Stephen Rayburn, 81, of Mount Vernon died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 7:20 a.m. at his residence.
He was born June 5, 1928, in Poca, W.Va., to the late Stephen T. and Eve May (Brown) Rayburn. On Nov. 22, 1958, he married Joyce M. Daniels and she survives.
Also surviving are four children, Paul D. Rayburn of Mount Gilead, Roger L. (Kathy) Rayburn of LaRue, and Doug W. (Barb) Rayburn and Rhonda L. (Phil) Belcher of Marengo; grandchildren, Paul (April) Rayburn Jr., Roger L. Rayburn II, Douglas Rayburn II, Phillip Belcher II, Crystal N. Belcher, Terri D. Gottfried, Jessica R. Rasey, Jennifer Rayburn and April Blanton; great-grandchildren, Shyanne Rasey, Steven Rasey, Katelynn Rasey, Alex Rasey, Cambria Rayburn, Logan Rayburn, Skylee Gottfried, Haliana Gottfried, Mathew Mathews, Brody Blanton, Brock Blanton and Alice Brily Blanton; brothers, Charles (Barb) Rayburn of LaRue, Frank (Sue) Rayburn of Westfield and Ronald (Frances) Rayburn of LaRue; sisters, Genieve Meadows of West Virginia, Betty (Robert) Feught of Marysville, Rosalie (James) Sharp of Marysville, Ruth (James) Gillfillen of Tennessee and Patty (Donnie) Madison of Mount Victory. One brother, Glenn Rayburn, is deceased.
Mr. Rayburn was an auto mechanic working for Sears for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran with service during the latter part of World War II and then the Korean War. He loved fishing, hunting and music.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Duane Kramer. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
