MOUNT VERNON — James E. Montgomery, 53, of Rose Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.

He was born June 22, 1956, in Louisville, Ky., to James Montgomery and Lois (Haberkorn) Casto. James was employed as an L.P.N. at the Columbus Correctional Facility and was a doctor of Eastern Medicine. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his daughter, Charity (Allen) Shorey of Virginia; three grandchildren, Paige, Bridget and Adam Shorey; his mother, Lois (Robert) Casto of Mount Vernon; his brother, Russell (Sue) Montgomery of Mansfield; three sisters, Melissa (Norman) Gottschalk of Cranberry Township, Pa., Cynthia Edwards of Mount Vernon and Nikki Freeman of Mount Vernon.

James was preceded in death by his father, James E. Montgomery Sr.; his stepfather, Wayne Hough; and his brother, William Montgomery.

There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private service at the home. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of James E. Montgomery.
