COLUMBUS — George Sylvester Durbin, 93, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II, and retired from White-Westinghouse Quality Control Department. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clement P. and Elnora (Fritz) Durbin; infant son, Joseph Carl; brothers, Alphonsus, Paul, Rev. Clement B. Durbin; sister, Agnes.

Surviving are wife of 55 years, Genevieve; children, John, Jean and James Durbin; sisters, Rita Durbin, Frances Miller, Mary Ann Blubaugh, Theresa Durbin, Rose (Joe) Goodof; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call today, March 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Southwick-Good & Fortkamp Funeral Chapel, 3100 N. High St., Columbus. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, March 24, at 10:15 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 E. N. Broadway, Columbus. Monsignor Stephan Moloney, celebrant. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
