MOUNT VERNON — Dixie Lee Cline, 70, of Mount Vernon died March 31, 2010, after a two-month struggle with complications from open heart surgery at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. Dixie will be greatly missed and was loved by her family, extended family, neighbors and friends.
She was born Jan. 3, 1940, in Knox County to William H. and Anna (Parker) Dexter. Dixie retired from Helig Myers furniture in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed spending time in her yard, visiting her neighbors with her motorized cart, and going to flea markets and yard sales. Dixie will always be remembered as a strong, loving and independent woman who was very devoted to all that she loved.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ivan Cline Jr.; daughters, Cindy Barcus of Mount Vernon, Pamela (Jay) Horlacher of Centerburg, Sharon Cline of Centerburg and Jennifer (Alfred) Kolasky of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Crystal Foster, Tracy (Eric) Moore, Stacy (Edwin) Rocha, Jayson Horlacher, Angela (Jeremy) Lang, Clinton Horlacher, Weston Cline, Levi Kolasky and Kiana Kolasky; 15 great-grandchildren; her mother, Anna Dexter; sisters, Alice Jackey, Phyllis Jervis, Cheryl Dexter and Marsha Dexter; several nieces and nephews; and her loving canine companion, Molly.
Her father, William Homer Dexter, brother, Jim Hamilton, and her mother- and father-in-law, Ivan F. Cline Sr. and Lucy Cline, preceded Dixie in death.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside funeral services will be Monday, April 5, at 2 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dan Taylor officiating. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Dixie Lee Cline family.
