SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — Martha VonThaden Matulich lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, when she quietly slipped away in her own home in Satellite Beach, Fla., on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. There is no service planned.

She is survived by her husband of almost six decades, Edward Matulich; and her five children and 11 grandchildren.

Josef (Kit) Matulich and their son, Aiden, reside in Columbus, Ohio. Josef works for Nationwide Insurance. Michelle (Michael) Clements and their children, Casey, Benjamin and Mackenzie, reside in Cary, N.C., where Michelle is a stay-at- home Mom. Susan (Dexter) Mckay reside in Marietta, Ga., with Sue’s daughter, Maggie. Sue is a real estate attorney. Andrew (Becky) Matulich live in Mount Vernon with their three daughters, Olivia, Elaine and Alison. Andrew is a foreman for Kokosing Construction Co. Matthew (Robin) Matulich live in the Nashville, Tenn., area with Matthew’s youngest son, Jonah. Matthew’s oldest son, Ryan, is grown and living independently and his middle son, Patrick, is in college. Matthew is a regional manager for the McDonald’s corporation

Martha was preceded in death by one grandchild, Alyssa Matulich (the daughter of Josef and Kit).

Before her illness overtook her, Martha was very active in her Florida community. She created beautiful jewelry and stained glass. She enjoyed having a membership to the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Fla., and visited it (and many other zoos around the country) every chance she got. She also worked as a volunteer for the Haven thrift store, a resale shop that benefits the local children’s shelter. Volunteerism was not new to Martha. When she lived in the Knox County area, Martha volunteered for many years in the Day Surgery Department at Knox Community Hospital. She made lifelong friends in the Mount Vernon area while working at KCH. She visited Ohio when she was able and kept in contact with them in Florida. She will be missed.
