FREDERICKTOWN — Janice M. Summers, 77, of Fredericktown passed away Saturday morning, April 3, 2010, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 20, 1932, in Massillon, a daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Clifton) Ripple. Janice was a homemaker and an active member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church. She retired from Fredericktown High School as a cashier in the cafeteria. Janice enjoyed spending time with her family and going camping.

Janice is survived by her husband, Harold F. Summers, whom she married on March 10, 1951; sons, Larry F. (Kathy) Summers of Findlay and Tom R. (Erin) Summers of Mount Sterling; a daughter, Jill A. (Jeff) Adams of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Kyle, Megan, Jessica, Lori, Michelle, Steven, Kevin and Kara; brothers, Tom (Alyce) Ripple of Massillon and James (Barbara) Ripple of Aiea, Hawaii; a sister, Emma Jean (Vernon) Netzly of Salinas, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Gardner; and brothers, George, Jack and William Ripple.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fredericktown United Methodist Church, 123 Columbus Road, Fredericktown, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Bohley officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
