MOUNT VERNON — Eloise M. Amsbaugh, 97, of Hilltop Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late May and Mattie (Hall) Umphryes. Eloise was a 1932 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. She enjoyed playing cards, watching Lawrence Welk on television and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Eugene) Beckholt of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Kenneth (Alice) Beckholt of Columbus, Mary (Gary) Brickell of Bradford, Ontario, Canada, and Barbara (Terry) Carpanese of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Amsbaugh; a brother, Lloyd Umphryes; and a sister, Lucile Doup.
A funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Warren Outhwaite will be officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
