LEXINGTON — Chadd Michael Vail, 25, of Holiday Hill, Lexington, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
He was born Nov. 20, 1984, in Mansfield to Michael Vail and Sandra Neeley Melcher. Chadd was a 2004 graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School and worked for Schmidt Security and Infotrac, both in Mansfield. At an early age, Chadd learned the history of our country from his grandfather, Edwin Vail. Chadd had a passion and love for Civil War re-enactment and was a member of the 41st Ohio Infantry and the New York 17th Zouaves. He was currently researching his family’s genealogy and was a member of Life Point Community Church in Plymouth, Ohio.
He is survived by his father, Michael (Deborah) Vail of Lexington; his mother, Sandra (Lenny) Melcher of Ridgeville, S.C.; stepbrothers and sisters, Chad (Michel) Frampton, Patrick Feeney, Jeremy Feeney, Sarah (Zach) Lowery, Katlin (Kenny) Baumberger and Mindy (Wilson) Horrell; maternal grandparents, Hayburn and Geneva Neeley of Willard; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and grandparents, John and Linda Peters of Winston, Ore., and Oz Melcher of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Edith Vail; and an aunt, Pam Mollison.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, OH 43050. Because of his patriotism to our country you are asked to wear anything red, white and blue. A funeral service at the funeral home will be held Monday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Richard Hurles will be officiating. A traditional Civil War Burial Honors will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
