CENTERBURG — Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for Jack Burns Cochran, 88, of Centerburg, which will be held Sunday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at Lock Cemetery, Lock, with Pastor Roger Crego officiating.

Mr. Cochran passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, while residing at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born June 18, 1921, to W. Brook and Mary F. (DeWitt) Cochran. Jack retired from B&L Motor Freight (Newark) as a truck driver in 1979. Since 2002, Jack and his wife, Theresa, made their home with Harold and Ann Cochran of Centerburg.

He is survived by nieces, Judy (Ralph) Hook of Ridgeville, Va., Connie (Barry) Butz and Joyce (Rodney) Hunkins of Mount Vernon; nephews, Gary (Marlene) Carpenter of Fort Wayne, Ind., Harold (Ann) Cochran of Centerburg, Ted Cochran of Gambier and Tom (Peggy) Carpenter of Utica; 21 great-nieces and nephews; and 14 great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa (Hawkins) Cochran, in 2003; and by sisters, Jane Lane and Helen Carpenter; and a brother, Lloyd Cochran.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County or to the Centerburg Church of Christ.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
