MOUNT VERNON — Richard C. “Brownie” Brown, 85, of Mount Vernon died April 13, 2010, at Whispering Hills Care Center.

He was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Mount Vernon and was the son of the late Asa and Cleota (Taylor) Brown. Brownie was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a World War II Marine Corps veteran, member of the AMVETS, and owned and operated Brownie’s TV Sales and Service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy E. (Blubaugh) Brown; sons, Richard A. (Rhonda) Brown and Thomas Lee Brown, both of Mount Vernon; sister, Thelma Stull of Mount Vernon; and a grandson, Jayson Brown of Millwood.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ralph and Jack Brown.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military honors being conducted by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council.
