CENTERBURG — Grace Irene Simmons, 82, of Centerburg passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Heartland of Centerburg.

She was a retired cook from Centerburg Schools and formerly employed by the Centerburg Post Office. She was a member of Golden Agers Club of Centerburg and a Centerburg High School Music Booster.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Esther Dardinger; parents, Lloyd and Carrie Gantt; and brothers Doyle Gantt and Glenn Gantt.

She is survived by a daughter, Wanda (Kenneth) Conner of Mount Vernon; son, Mike Simmons of Centerburg; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Ruth) Gantt of Utica, Robert Gantt of Tennessee, Wayne (Betty) Gantt of New York and Vaughn (Georgena) Gantt of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Centerburg Church of Christ, 3830 S. Columbus Road, Centerburg, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until time of service with Roger Crego, minister. Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery. Special thank you to Heartland of Centerburg, Acclaim Hospice and those who cared for her at the end. Arrangements by the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, Centerburg.
