GREENBRIER, Tenn. — Sonny Vance, 68, passed away at his residence in Greenbrier, Tenn., on April 16, 2010, after an extended illness.
He was born in Buchanan County, Va., to Ireland L. Vance Sr. and Ora Matney Vance. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Sharon Vance.
Sonny was assistant director of linen services at St. Vincents Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He was a veteran of the Army and was a lover of golf.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at Ridgetop Adventist Church in Ridgetop, Tenn., with Pastor Jeremiah Smartt officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ross Vance; mother, Ora Matney Vance; daughters, Cathy (Billy) Marlin, Greenbrier, Tenn., Mary (Thomas Bailey) Vance, Hendersonville, Tenn., Erin (Chris) Zanchi, Greenbrier, Tenn., Stephanie (Gregg) Garrison, Little Rock, Ark.; brothers, Ireland Vance Jr., Mount Vernon, Ohio, Beverly (Kayleen) Vance, Columbus, Ohio, and Gary (Linda) Vance and Gregg (Laurie) Vance, both of Mount Vernon; sisters, Nell (Ralph) Parker, Rinda (Ralph) White and Vera (Jim) Bridges, all of Mount Vernon, Ohio; eight grandsons, Tyler Vance, Ryan Vance, Stephen Ramsey, Seth Ramsey, Austin Vance, Taylor Zanchi, Cory Garrison and Eli Garrison; one great-granddaughter, Blakeley Sanders.
Visitation with his family will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. time of service at the Ridgetop Adventist Church.
