GAMBIER — James M. “Jim” Bailey, 52, of Gambier died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in his home.
He was born June 7, 1957, in Columbus, a son of Juanita (Baker) Bailey of Mount Vernon and the late Donald Bailey. Jim was a spiritual man whose joy in life extended to those around him who always found a helping hand whenever needed. His interest in technology found him as an entrepreneur at the frontier of the IT revolution specifically being on the forefront of Videoconferencing in the early ’90s and he took great pride in his long career with Conrail. James also had a lifelong passion for music, playing drums in various bands for over 39 years and was an avid Ohio State fan. His everlasting love in life was for his family who will always remember him being a great father to his three children.
Jim is survived by his mother, Juanita; son, Joshua (Rebecca Marchio) Bailey of Hilliard; daughters, Makayla and Meredith Bailey of Gambier; brothers, David (Barbette) Bailey of Mount Vernon and Don (Shannon Sturgis) Bailey of St. Louis, Mo.; and a sister, Lora Marshall of Mount Vernon.
In addition to his father, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Bailey; and a brother, Gail Bailey.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 1, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, from noon until time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. A private graveside service will be at a later date.
