ST. LOUISVILLE — A funeral liturgy for Albert A. Church, 87, of St. Louisville will be held Tuesday, May 4, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Nativity, Utica, with the Rev. Stephen A. Metzger as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Newark.
Al died April 30, 2010, at Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born April 29, 1923, in Great Wakering Essex, England, to the late Albert V. and Evelyn (Amos) Church. Al was a member of Church of the Nativity, Utica, and retired in 1982 from American Freight. He was a World War II British Army veteran and came from England after World War II in 1946 and went to Canada and worked for Abbitibbi Power and Paper where he met his wife. An acquaintance brought them to Ohio and they married Aug. 9, 1952. They settled in Johnstown and then moved to St. Louisville. Al loved soccer, riding his horse and his dogs, Rex and Peanut.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa R. Church of St. Louisville; son and daughter-in-law, Alan Raymond and Linda Church of Delaware; daughters, Judy Mae Angeletti of St. Louisville and Theresa Maria Church of Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughter, Whitney Michelle and Robert Severance, and grandson, Anthony Michael Angeletti III, all of Newark; sisters, Doris Fordham, Betty Rowan and Doreen Baily, brother, Douglas Church, sister and brother-in-law, Freda and Kevin Byrne, and stepsister, Christine, all of England.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Maureen French; two stepsisters, Beryl and Joan; and one stepbrother, Bill.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 8 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.
