MOUNT VERNON — George L. Llewellyn, 85, of Mount Vernon passed away Monday morning, May 3, 2010, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.

He was born July 8, 1924, in Mount Vernon, a son of the late Edward and Winnie May (Taylor) Llewellyn. George retired from PPG and Kelsey-Hayes in Mount Vernon, and was a member of the United Methodist Church. George was a World War II Army veteran.

George is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Butler of Mount Vernon; three stepsons, Joe (Kim) De Polo of Marion, Nick (Peggy) De Polo of Mount Vernon and Phillip (Janet) De Polo of Mason; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Nina De Polo Llewellyn, Sept. 23, 1995; a son, David Llewellyn; a stepson, Antonio De Polo; a brother, Archie Llewellyn; and a sister, Hazel Sherman.

In following with George’s wish, he will be cremated and a memorial service at a later date. Private graveside services will be held in Mound View Cemetery.
