HOWARD — Cyril “Bill” Dawson Jr., 83, of Ridgeway Drive, Howard, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1927, in Norwalk to the late Cyril and Martha (Harrison) Dawson Sr. Bill was employed at the Rotary Printing Co. in Norwalk. He was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church, the VFW and American Legion here in Mount Vernon. He was also a member of VFW, American Legion, Eagles and Moose Lodge in Norwalk. Bill was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1953.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Anderson) Dawson; two sons, Michael (Betsy) Dawson of Lutz, Fla., and Thomas (Marcia) Dawson of Norwalk; two stepdaughters, Sarah (Bradley) Holmes of Kingwood, Texas, and Barbara (Brian) Drummond of Guam; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, John “Jack” (Marilyn) Dawson of California; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Dawson.
Friends may call Saturday, May 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gay Street United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will follow beginning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. David Baker officiating. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk on a later date.
