MOUNT VERNON — Leona M. Hiles, 81, of Baker Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Utica to the late Fred and Helen (Ferris) Mossholder. Leona had worked for the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon News and served as a foster grandparent at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
She is survived by her son, John Hiles of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Teresa (Mark) Bozman of Canton; two grandchildren, Marcie (Adam) Estes and Halley Mark; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria Estes, Kala Estes and Jordan Yarnell; and a brother, Fred (Pat) Mossholder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hiles Jr.; a daughter, Connie McCallister; a grandson, Mikael McCallister; a brother, Bob Mossholder; and a sister, Arlene Bross.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Saint Johns Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Leona M. Hiles.
