MOUNT VERNON — Joseph W. Sellers Jr., 77, of Mount
Vernon died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount
Vernon.
Joseph was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Mount Vernon, a twin son of Dr. Joseph W. Sellers
Sr. and Louise (Bell) Sellers. He spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area,
graduating from Mount Vernon High School. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy during
the Korean conflict on board the destroyer the USS Brush. He was a member of
the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 688, and had been employed
at Dalrymple Electric in Mount Vernon for many years.
Joseph enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a past member of the Knox County
Fish and Game Club and the Knox County Coon Hunters Association. He was a member
of the Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Nancy (Lannoy) Sellers; his son, Joseph C.
(Zo) Sellers of Fredericktown; his daughters, Mary Beth Fischer of Mount Vernon
and Janet (Herman) Tice of Hilliard; and the light of his life, his grandchildren,
Leigh and Mitch Sellers, Rachel Fischer and twins Campbell and Walker Tice.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his twin brother, James Bell Sellers.
A service celebrating the life of Joseph W. Sellers Jr. will be Friday at 7 p.m.
at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, with Pastor
Dennis M. Turner officiating. The family will receive friends, at the funeral
home, one hour before the service. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery in Mount
Vernon.
