FREDERICKTOWN — Kenneth J. Gilmore, 72, of Gilmore Road, Fredericktown, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan. 29, 1938, in Mount Vernon to the late Jay and Cora (Fry) Gilmore. Kenny served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was a retired farmer, and owned and operated Gilmore Auction House in Fredericktown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean (Breece) Gilmore; two sons, Keith (Jodi) Gilmore of Fredericktown and Jason (Tara) Gilmore of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Ginger (Doug) Lester of Fredericktown; four granddaughters, Jessica Coss, Jenna Lester and Justine Lester, all of Fredericktown, and Kayla Gilmore of Mount Vernon; and four great-grandchildren, Billy Coss, Preston Coss, Gracie Lester and Haley Lester.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Jane Gilmore.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown. The family will observe a private graveside service with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council in Owl Creek Cemetery in Ankenytown.
