AKRON — Nancy Lee (Pietrangelo) Chupek passed away May 13, 2010, after a short illness.

Nancy was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, on March 22, 1941, beloved first child of Doris (Baker) and Albert Pietrangelo (deceased). Nancy came to Akron in 1961 to attend St. Thomas School of Nursing. She spent her entire nursing career at St. Thomas with over 40 years of service but her care giving and love extended to her “family” and neighbors on Rothrock Road and beyond. Nancy took great pride in being a nurse who didn’t know the meaning of the word “retirement.” Nancy loved her annual trips to Florida with her fellow nursing school classmates, and weekend car shows with her husband, Bernie. Nancy always knew the importance of saying “I love you more.”

Nancy is survived by her husband, Bernie; daughter, Mary Ann (Stan) Weaver; son, Bernie Jr. (Candice); mother, Doris Pietrangelo; sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Mechenbier; brother, Gary (Debbie) Pietrangelo, and many nieces and nephews. The shining light of her life was her grandson, Steven Weaver, whom she cherished spending time with and watching grow into a fine young man. She also leaves many, many lifelong friends and colleagues that she loved like family.

The Ciriello & Carr Funeral Funeral Home Akron was in charge of arrangements.
