BLACKSBURG, S.C. — Roger Dale
McCarter, 50, of 234 Elm Road, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Carolinas Medical
Center, Charlotte, N.C.
Memorial service will be Saturday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist
Church, Blacksburg, S.C., with the Rev. Ken Lane officiating. The family will
receive friends before the service from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. McCarter was born June 21, 1959, in York, S.C., and worked at Lubrizol Chemical
in Gastonia, N.C., for 29 years. Roger was a very loyal husband and father and
loved his family.
Survivors are his wife, Cathy Conway McCarter of Blacksburg, S.C., daughter of
Dude and Rita Conway of Mount Vernon, Ohio; son, Michael McCarter of Blacksburg,
S.C.; daughters, Angel McCarter and Lacey McCarter, both of Blacksburg, S.C.;
brothers, Oliver “Buddy” McCarter (Margie), Paul McCarter (Becky),
and Steve McCarter (Kathy), all of Clover, S.C.; sisters, Carolyn Jones (Howard)
of Clover, S.C., and Debbie Baker (Dennis) of Lake Wylie, S.C.; grandsons, Justin
Blackwood and Brody McCarter, both of Blacksburg, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe Isaac and Lizzie Lee McCarter,
and a brother, James “Bill” McCarter, all of Clover, S.C.
