MOUNT VERNON — Winifred “Winnie” Rose Green, 74, of Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Mount Vernon to the late Edward and Helen (Goldon) Rucka. Winifred was employed at T&A Saveway, she was a member of the Women of the Moose, where she held degrees in the College of Regents and the Academy of Friendship. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church here in Mount Vernon.

Winifred is survived by her daughter, Denise (Lynn) Beveridge of Mount Vernon; three sons, Kenneth (Vickie) Rice of Las Vegas, Nev., Timothy (Cindy) Rice of Gambier and Thomas (Diana) Rice of Monmouth, Ore.; 11 grandchildren, John Singrey, Jennifer Rodgers, Darcy Horn, Justin Rice, Phillip Rice, Jessica Rice, Dan Rice, Rebecca Rice, Helen Rice, Zach Rice and Sarah Rice; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward (Dorothy) Rucka of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a very special friend, Brenda Burch of Mount Vernon.

Besides her parents, Winifred was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Green; and a sister, Kathryn Rucka.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 25, at 11 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Wildermuth officiating. A private burial will be held in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Winifred Rose Green.
