MOUNT VERNON — Marilyn Louise Peterson, 73, of Mount Vernon died May 24, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Mount Vernon and was the daughter of the late Cecil and Mary (O’Brien) Blakely. Marilyn was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She retired from the Mount Vernon Public Library after 30-plus years with them. Marilyn enjoyed garage saling, antiques, shopping, helping others and visiting with family. She was the matriarch of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Peterson; her children, William (Christine) Peterson of Holly Springs, N.C., Becky (Steve) Stallard of Bellville, Teresa (Mike) Sandman of Newark and Robert (Heidi) Peterson of Marion; her grandchildren, Will Peterson, Meghan Peterson, Gabriel Stallard, Stephanie Stallard, Michael Sandman, Taylor Sandman, Kyle Peterson, Tyler Peterson and Kaitlin Peterson; a great-grandchild, Jacob Adam Stallard; sisters, Carolyn Hallam and Judy Snyder; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Virgil Blakely.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Marilyn Louise Peterson family.
